All about the recycled gold used in Chupi Jewellery

Sustainability is at the heart of our business. We are proud to now use only 100% recycled gold for all our Chupi pieces.

We purchase our gold from a central European supplier, who processes and recycles gold to be returned to the supply chain.

Gold is a beautiful but soft metal, in its original 24k state it’s too soft to be worn. Traditionally gold has been worn in 10k, 14k and 18k. We love 14k the best, with it’s soft golden glow and strength it’s a beautiful precious metal. 14k solid gold is a mixture of pure gold and an alloy to give it strength.

Each piece is hallmarked in the Assay Office in Dublin Castle to show its strength and purity.

  • 14k yellow gold:  We add a mixture of silver and an alloy (we love our gold to be a soft glittering colour so it sparkles on all skin tones)
  • 14k white gold: We add palladium (a very rare and beautiful silver coloured metal that’s more expensive than gold). We use 14k solid gold for our Fine Jewellery, it’s the perfect mix of beauty and strength.
