How should I care for my gold plated Chupi jewellery?

The gold plating that we use on our charms and rings is a heavy 4 micron layer of 18k gold, it will gradually wear and start to show the sterling silver layer beneath. The places that come into most contact with your skin will be the first to fade as the oils in our skin wear down the gold. This is especially relevant for rings and necklaces sitting against the skin which might be in contact with creams and perfumes. When the gold fades it can be re-plated at a nominal cost through any jewellers or we would be happy to do it for you for the cost of €49.

-A gentle clean with a soft 100% cotton cloth is ideal for maintaining your jewellery’s shine.

-Try to not wear your jewellery in the shower or pool as the chlorine will tarnish it.

-Apply any perfume, body lotion or creams and let dry before you put on your jewellery.

-For the best care, store your jewellery in a little airtight bag in the box it came in when not being worn to minimise tarnish.

-To clean your jewellery grab a small bowl, pour in some warm water, a splash of gentle soap and stir. Place your jewellery in the solution for 1 minute, rinse with clean water, then polish with a soft 100% cotton cloth and pat completely dry.

-Sterling silver pieces can be cleaned using any commercially available solutions, we prefer the non chemical ones.

If your piece breaks or is damaged, do get in touch with us. We want you to be very happy with your Chupi piece.
