HallmarkingUpdated 4 months ago

Every piece of Chupi jewellery is hallmarked in the Assay Office in Dublin Castle. It is our guarantee that your piece is made using the very highest quality metals here in Ireland.

The Assay Offices are a network around the world that ensure all precious jewellery is hallmarked appropriately. A piece’s hallmark holds the history of your piece telling you who made your piece, what it is made from, and where your piece was made.

What is a Hallmark ?

Precious metals are hallmarked to let you know:

  • Maker’s Mark: Who made your piece. Each maker is allowed three letters as their unique maker’s mark so we have shortened Chupi to CHI

  • Purity Mark: What precious metal your piece is made from. This shows the purity of the precious metal content.  The fineness is indicated by a millesimal number (parts per thousand) 14kt Gold = 585

  • The Assay Office Mark where your piece was hallmarked. This symbol shows which Assay Office tested and marked the item. Every Assay Office in the world has its own mark. Here in Dublin the symbol for the Dublin Assay Office shows Hibernia as a seated lady.
